When SRA Information Technology became a partner in the Nova Network in January 2022, there was no doubt about their ability to deliver. SRA was the original developer of EnviroSys and supported the environmental data management product for 15 years before acQuire purchased the technology. Having SRA join the partner network guarantees expert insight and extensive experience in EnviroSys is available for acQuire customers.
Custom software development projects are the primary focus of SRA. For more than 30 years, they have been a trusted software partner for multiple Australian Government agencies and large global corporations. SRA Service Delivery Manager Shaun Luckhurst said becoming accredited as an EnviroSys Nova Network Partner was relatively straightforward due to his company’s long involvement with environmental data management.
“All of our nominated technologists have been involved in environmental data management for at least 10 years,” Shaun said, “and all have used EnviroSys.”
While joining the Nova Network was a natural fit for SRA, it was also a chance for commercial gain. acQuire developed the Nova Network program of independent consultants to give acQuire customers access to a qualified talent pool of information management experts. As acQuire’s suite of software products grow, Nova Network Partners are being added to support the whole breadth of products, including EnviroSys.
“We were enticed to join the global network to provide services to existing EnviroSys clients,” Shaun said.
SRA has enjoyed a variety of opportunities since joining Nova Network. Typical engagements involve pre and post-implementation services like data clean-up initiatives, and EnviroSys training.
“SRA has received lead opportunities from acQuire to provide services that are not part of acQuire’s core business,” Shaun said.
“This includes EnviroSys configuration, environmental data management, consultancy, developing strategic solutions, and training.
“One engagement often leads to additional business.”
SRA currently works with about half a dozen customers but expects to increase that number to double figures over the next three to six months. Liaising with the acQuire Partner Manager on a regular basis alerts SRA to any upcoming service opportunities.
Shaun says SRA works in four primary areas to help EnviroSys customers get the full benefit of their investment in environmental data management.
Configuration – Environmental legislation changes frequently and that impacts EnviroSys’s configuration.
“Clients reach out to our technologists for assistance in configuring EnviroSys to correctly reflect the updated legislation,” Shaun said.
Data Management – Data feeds can change over time and customers don’t always have the necessary skills to maintain the integrity of their data under changing circumstances.
“Data feeds can come from a customer’s database or a third-party data provider like a laboratory,” Shaun said.
“When data feeds change – or a new data feed is imported – they need to be configured in EnviroSys.
“That’s our area of expertise and we ensure all the data feeds continue to function correctly.”
Data Clean-ups – Over time, customers often experience staff turnover, variations to workflows or process, or changes to their business rules and structures. This can cause their environmental data management solution to become dated and inconsistent. A data clean-up ensures their technology and processes are in good shape and performing efficiently and no incomplete, missing or duplicated data is affecting the environmental database.
“‘Decluttering’ the EnviroSys software facilitates a quicker understanding of valid information,” Shaun said.
“By consolidating and deleting duplicate records, the whole system can be ‘cleansed’ so that only pertinent information remains.
“Part of our service is to prevent future duplication and ensure erroneous configurations and data do not occur.”
Training – SRA provides customised, end-user staff training for new employees and also delivers training on new EnviroSys versions to ensure everyone understands the new features and functions and how to use them. This complements the self-paced, online EnviroSys Learning units available with acQuire.
An engagement with a major port authority is the kind of project SRA enjoys most. The port authority managed three different ports which connected the region to the rest of the world. They were implementing EnviroSys across four sites, including the head office, and had a lot of different environmental datasets. They enlisted SRA to help them navigate the project.
“It was a challenge to understand all of the requirements and develop the solution,” Shaun said.
“The port authority staff were helpful and keen to implement EnviroSys. It’s always enjoyable to work on projects where you have good buy-in from everyone.
“EnviroSys simplified their data management and their reporting requirements to the regulator.
“The final delivery met all their objectives and was hugely beneficial.”
