Tiger Geo Services explores geoscientific potential through Nova Network

For Louise Lindskog, Exploration Manager turned business owner of Tiger Geo Services, joining the Nova Network was the next logical step in her business growth strategy. In this case study, Louise shares her journey from becoming a GIM Suite user in 2008 to joining the Nova Network in 2021 and growing her company internationally.

Exploration geologist turned database expert

Tiger Geo Services joined the Nova Network after commencing full time operations in 21. Since 2008, Louise Lindskog, Founder of Tiger Geo Services, has been using acQuire’s GIM Suite solution in her geological duties in multiple mining and exploration companies across Australia, Africa and Sweden.

“I call myself an Exploration Geologist at heart,” Louise said. “Throughout my career, I’ve mainly worked as a geologist, but I’ve often ended up in data handling positions. In Australia, I was gathering open filed reports for the Queensland Government. I then moved to a gold mining company as Database Manage using GIM Suite, before moving to Sweden and taking on an Exploration Manager position. My role naturally evolved into Database Expert for their GIM Suite solution.”

“I kind of fell into using the [GIM Suite] database as I often needed to fix geological data and get it into a good system so that I could use it for my 3D modelling programs and resource modelling,” said Louise.

Uncovering a gap in the market

After moving to Sweden in 2018, Louise recognised an opportunity to leverage her unique combination of geological insight, database experience and fluency in Swedish, and decided to pursue her consultancy, Tiger Geo Services, full-time in 2021.

“As a geologist, I understand the importance of having valid, correct data. I can identify when data looks incorrect or if information is missing, from a geological perspective. Part of my brain is more database engineering, and the other part quite likes the uncertainty of geology.”

Louise decided to pursue her certification as a GIM Suite Practitioner and join the Nova Network as part of her business growth strategy. Once certified, Louise began consulting to global mining exploration companies, offering services in 3D modelling, advising on exploration programs, as well as post-implementation services on acQuire’s GIM Suite solution.

“After working internationally on mine sites in Africa and Australia, I’m aware of the international standards of geological data. Pair that with my expertise and experience in using acQuire’s GIM Suite solution and I’m in a unique position to support the growing Scandinavian market. Having the advantage of speaking Swedish and my proximity to many sites around Europe, it seemed only fitting that I start my own consultancy and help other companies get the most out of their data,” said Louise.

From experienced user to certified technologist

Because of Louise’s background in geology and experience with GIM Suite, acQuire recognised her prior learning and experience, which reduced the time it took to become a certified acQuire Practitioner and join the Nova Network.

“I’ve done a lot of recognised prior learning to get my qualifications up for becoming a Nova Network partner. It’s work I’ve always done but I’ve not previously had the opportunity to do the official training,” Louise says.

As a certified acQuire practitioner with more than two decades of industry and software experience, Louise is well-equipped to help mining and exploration companies overcome their information management challenges and manage their geoscientific databases with the support of acQuire.

“GIM Suite is very powerful and gives you the ability to do a lot of things however, often this change can be time-consuming or complex to implement. Companies may need support on the best way to fix forms, change queries or manipulate, display or export data. Regardless of the task at hand, I think it’s advantageous having a technologist, especially one with a geological background, there to support,” said Louise.

“As their partner, I think the most enjoyable part is when people finally start using the program and realise they can do so much more. When they start to see the value in their solution, then they begin to ask for more complex queries and advanced objects to be created. They start to discover the power of the software and the ways they can improve the quality and control of their data – that to me is the most enjoyable part of my work,” said Louise.
